Ruel Hazard Seely

Ruel Hazard Seely, 73, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday at his home. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery. He was born Dec. 2, 1898, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Joseph and Adela Evelyn Olson Seely. He married Anna Eula Jorgensen on Oct. 18, 1922, in the Manti Temple. Mr. Seely was a retired farmer, sheep and stockman. He was the first bishop of the Mt. Pleasant third Ward, served on the North Sanpete Stake High Council, was North Ward Sunday School superintendent and served an LDS mission to the Eastern States.

He also was Mt. Pleasant city councilman, on the board of Mt. Pleasant Pioneer Historical Association for 20 years and director of Pleasant Creek Irrigation Co.

Survivors include his widow, Mt. Pleasant; four sons and two daughters, Joseph Boyd Seely and James Dale Seely, both of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. J. H. (Jelen) Harvey, American Fork; Morris Ruel Seely, Vista, Calif.; Mrs. N. Ross (Leone) Smith, Preston Ida; Clair Leon Seely, Las Vegas, Nev.; 26 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers and one sister, Justus O. Seely, Ray Seely and Mrs. Elva Guymon, all of Mt. Pleasant; Theron Seely, Preston, Ida.
