"HEART ATTACK IS FATAL TO JOHN DELAPP
Veteran Monon Employee Succumbs Suddenly Sunday.

John Delapp, age 69, veteran Monon railway engineer died of a heart attack at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon at his home at 406 south Madison street. He had been ill for the past five weeks and had not been working but had not been confined to his bed. Sunday noon he was able to go to the table for dinner, and the fatal attack came while he was lying down resting after having eaten. No one was in the house but Mrs. Delapp when he was stricken. She summoned help, but he had succumbed before a physician could reach him.

Mr. Delapp was one of the most popular of the Monon employees residing here. He had been employed by the railroad 44 years, and had been an engineer 34 years. He was a member of the Christian church and of the Odd Fellows, Eagles and Brotherhood of Railway Engineers.

Survivors
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Ida M. Delapp, who is a sister of James and Wall Souders of the Souders Bros. grocery, and three brothers, Harvey Delapp of Kansas, Ill, George Delapp of Princeton, and William Delapp of Flint, Mich.
Funeral services will be conducted from the residence at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. R. O. Pearson. The music will be in charge of Mrs. Fraley Brown. Interment will be made in Rosehill cemetery and the ritualistic service of the Odd Fellows will be given there.

Active pallbearers will be Asher Newton, Arthur Hedrick, William Jackson, John Patterson, James Peake, Otis Kauffman, Frank Allen, Ed Johns, Fred Thrasher, Carl Breeden and Jesse Neill.

Members of the Odd Fellows will meet at their hall at 1 p.m. Tuesday to attend the service in a body.
