Woman Is Killed By Car On Stockton

Mary May Eisner 48 of 4541 Berrendo Way died yesterday several hours after she was hit by a car while crossing Stockton Boulevard in front of the Libby, McNeill & Libby plant.

The police reported Mrs Eisner who worked at the cannery was hit by a car driven by Gustave Volmer of 171012 G Street. She is survived by her husband Henry Funeral arrangements are pending at the N.G. Culjis Funeral Home Volmer was cited for violating a pedestrian's right of way.

Rites Are Set For Mary Eisner Crash Victim Last rites will be held Tuesday for Mrs Mary May Eisner, 48, a Sacramento resident since 1933 and the sister of the late Bill Vukovich, a famous auto race driver.

Mrs. Eisner died Friday in a hospital several hours after she was struck by a car while crossing Stockton Boulevard in front of the Libby, McNeill & Libby plant where she was employed. Her brother winner of the 1953 and 1954 500 mile auto races in Indianapolis died in a five car pileup at the track on Memorial Day in 1955. It was the worst accident of the celebrated race in 25 years. Mrs. Eisner had worked at the cannery more than 20 years. She was the treasurer of the Sisters Circle of the St. Mary's Serbian Orthodox Church. She resided at 4541 Berrando Drive. Surviving are her husband,Henry; sons Claude and Henry; sisters and brothers, Dorothy Rogers of Los Angeles, Anna Gussie, Florence Bieden, Jenny Specht, Eli and Mike Vukovich all of Fresno. The rites will begin at 11 AM Tuesday in the N.G. Culjis Funeral Home. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery.
