Bessie Lou Strait, 94, of 1703 West Clinton Street, Goshen, Ind., died at 7:26 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 1997, in Goshen General Hospital. She had moved to Goshen from West Virginia in 1963 to live with Floyd and Wanda Welling.
She was born November 6, 1903, in Wetzel County, W.Va., a daughter of Wilford and Louella Wiles Hartley.
A homemaker, Mrs. Strait was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Goshen.
On June 25, 1923, in Pleasant Valley, W.Va., she married George Strait, who died in February 1955.
Surviving are three daughters, Helen Ducker and Janice Holmes, both of Eaton, Colo., and Wanda Welling of Goshen; a sister, Dorothy Lemasters of Columbia City, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four sisters, Margaret Oliver, Olive Pyles, Leona Posthlewaite and Letha Courtwright; and five brothers, Perry, Theodore, Ransel, James and Frank Hartley.
