Allyson Ann (Harris) Cole was born June 2, 1961, at Fort Carson, Colorado to William and Dorothy Harris. She passed peacefully at her home in Coppell on December 29, 2014 surrounded by family. Ally and her two older sisters, Diann and Julie, would spend almost their entire childhood on three year deployments to Germany and back to Fort Sill since their father was a Master Sergeant in the Pershing missile program. Ally told stories of trading Matchbox cars with other Army brats in the military housing, eating fresh cherries bought from German street vendors, camping with her family in the Black Forest, traveling Europe, and bugging her older sisters. These experiences would later be revealed in Ally's habits of quickly, starting a project, and another, and another, as if the next deployment was around the corner and she had to finish things. In 1975 the Harris family settled in Denton, Texas where Ally attended public school, and North Texas State University. The sincere friendships she made in Denton continue today. It was in Denton that Ally married Leslie (Les) Elbert Cole, on November 5, 1983 at St. David's Episcopal Church. Les and Ally loved each other tremendously and shared everything. After Ryan was born, they moved to Austin, Texas and later Norman, Oklahoma where daughter Ramsey was born. It was in Norman that Ally was blessed to meet and enjoy friends that were also raising young families. The family moved to Coppell, Texas in 1994, where they loved raising Ryan and Ramsey, with Rebecca not far behind. Ally was an amazing stay at home mom and the kids grew up comforted that their Momma was always there for them. It cannot be overstated how much Ally cherished being a homemaker – it was her passion. She cheered at the kid's school and athletic events, was a home Cub Scout Den Leader, loved being a Wilson Elementary school substitute, and enjoyed many Coppell Cowboy Friday night games watching both daughters' Lariette performances. She loved camping in Colorado with the kids, and while admiring the mountains she dreamed with Les on moving to Buena Vista. Ally would tell you that her Coppell Alleyhood had the best neighbors, lovingly helping others, sharing concerns, and praying together, and yes, the parties. Ally's projects of note included home-based art classes, ceramics, laying hens, a fish pond, furniture re-upholstery and website authoring. Her beloved poodle Chloe will always be looking at the front door for Ally. When in Norman, the young family attended Wildwood Community Church where Ally was baptized as a believer in Jesus Christ. In Coppell she sang in a church choir, taught children's Sunday School Class, and especially enjoyed fellowship in women's small bible study groups. The family continues to be blessed by the amazing convergence of love and compassion of family and friends that visited the home to say good-by to Ally. Ally found courage, strength and peace knowing many people were praying for her. She will be missed especially by her two sisters . She was preceded in death by her father, William Neville Harris. Ally is survived by her husband; one son and two daughters; mother Dorothy Ann (Hightower) Harris; two sisters; two nieces and two nephews.
