She married John Kester in the spring of 1830, and they soon moved to Crawford County, Ohio. Following John's death, Eliza moved to Iowa.
Eliza died at the home of her niece, Mary Swisher. She chose her funeral text from Revelations 14:13, "I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."
She was survived by a brother, the youngest of her 11 siblings. Two other siblings, Mary and Henry, are buried in Rochester Cemetery in Cedar County.
