Donald W. Alspach, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at his home. He was born July 9, 1929, to the late Charles Alspach and Lucille (Baxter) Alspach-Valler in Fredericktown. His mother survives. On April 28, 1979, he married Deborah A. Alspach and she survives. In addition, he is also survived by children, Anne M. Sarkin, Sue (Walter) Wallenstein, Karl (Wilma) Alspach, Gretchen Alspach, Sheila (Scott) McLeod, Megan (Scott) Tettau; three grandchildren; sisters, Doris (Ken) Johnson and Lois (Andre) Faure; step-brothers, Harry (Kay) Valler and Mike (Trish) Valler. He was also predeceased by his step-father Harry E. Valler.

A 1951 graduate of Ohio Northern University. He was a pharmacist for 52 years. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. From 1954 until present, Donald practiced pharmacy at Hurst Drug Store in Ashland. In 1958, Don came to Marion and purchased the Rexall Pharmacy from Carl Ungericht and operated the Alspach Pharmacy until 1967. He joined the Smith Clinic in 1968, working there for the last 38 years.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at GUNDER/HALL & FOLK FUNERAL DIRECTORS, Marion. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Church, Marion at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion County Historical Society and Quality of Life Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family at [email protected].
