Juanita “Cricket” Curl, age 86, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Citizens Memorial Hospital, in Bolivar.

Cricket was born on October 5, 1928 to Ralph “Dick” and DeLoris (Harrelson) Roach, in Wishart, Missouri. Cricket never officially joined a church, but she was saved when she was 14 years old, at Mitchell Camp Ground. She grew up and attended school in the area before marrying Harold Close in 1944. Harold passed away in 1987 and Cricket would marry Norman Dale Curl in 1995. They were together until his death in 2012.

Cricket lived and worked on the farm, milking cows for 32 years, but also worked at Teter’s Floral Products, where she retired from, after working 20 years. She loved flowers and gardening, as well as baking pies for her friends and family. She was an active volunteer at the Polk County Senior Citizen’s Center, and enjoyed cooking and doing crafts. At the age of 85 she achieved one of her final life goals, of getting back on, and riding a horse.

Juanita is preceded in death by, her parents; husbands, Harold Close, and Norman Dale Curl; one daughter, Barbara Jean Carson; and one grandson, Kevin Douglas Grant.

She is survived by, grandson, Todd Grant and wife Penny, of Morrisville; grandson, Scott Grant, and wife Tammy, of Morrisville; great-grandchildren, Brock Grant, Madison Grant, Hadden Grant, Hillary Manning and husband Trent, all of Morrisville; one great-great-granddaughter, Imy Manning; and one son-in-law, Jim Carson, of Bolivar.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, December 30th, 2014, at the Butler Funeral Home Chapel, with Ron Erven officiating, with burial to follow at Slagle Cemetery.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral, from 10-11:00 am at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Polk County Senior Citizen’s Center
