Vernon, Texas--Pete B. Lawlis, 96, died Monday in a Vernon hospital.
Services will be at 4 pm Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harvey Martz of Colorado Springs, CO and Jerry Lawlis of Pueblo, CO officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Lawlis was born June 10, 1893 in Gurdon, AR. He and Edna Stephens were married July 28, 1942 in Canyon, TX. She died Oct. 20, 1974. He had lived in Wilbarger County since 1912 and was a retired farmer and rancher. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Odd Fellows Lodge and Masonic Lodge. He was a WWI Army Infantry Veteran.
Survivors include two sisters, Alma Jeffrey of Vernon and Grace Martz Zink of San Antonio.
