After their sister, Helen (called "Nell") married Arnold Kleiner and moved from Peoria, Illinois, to Stuttgart, Arkansas, Arnold persuaded Jim and his brother Thomas Joseph Buckley to move to Stuttgart to make fortunes rice farming. Fortunes were not made so Thomas Joseph Buckley went out west and James Bernard Buckley began a plumbing business and raised a family in Stuttgart.

Eventually Nell persuaded their parents, Thomas J. Buckley, a retired Foreman of Peoria Gas, Light, and Coke Company, and Rose (Coffey) Buckley whose Coffey cousins had asked Thomas to come from Covington, KY, to Peoria, to work for them at the Gas Works, to retire to Stuttgart to avoid cold Peoria winters. Nell and Arnold added a wing to their house for Nell's parents while her sister Stella rented out their house in Peoria for the Buckley parents.

Thomas J. and Rose both died in Stuttgart in 1916 and like Jim and Nell are buried in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. I know little about Jim's descendants, but among them are at least one priest and one Mother Superior.
