Abram (Abraham) Hoagland was the son of Christopher Hoagland (b. 1767 NJ-d. 1850 NY) & Eva Van Loan (d. 24 May 1850). He was born shortly after his parents moved from Somerset Co., NJ to Schoharie Co., NY abt 1787.

Abraham was first married to Elizabeth "Betsy" Graves (d. 1840); he next married already twice widowed Jane More (Moore) Peck Howell.

He & "Betsy" were parents of three children but the only known child is William D. Hoagland b. 1831 @ Gilboa - died 1910 @ Lisbon, New London, CT.

Son William D. Hoagland was the sole inheritor of the estate of Abraham Hoagland when the court approved the Will - dated 11 February 1856 ("NY, Wills and Probate Records, Vol F" at Middleburgh, Schoharie Co., NY).

These grave sites were not originally located here but were "re-moved" to this site in 1922 when the valley was flooded to create the Schoharie Reservoir. The specific date of death in December 1855 was no longer legible by the time the headstone was moved.
