SURFING TRAGEDY. William John Arkins, 41, married, of Flemington, was drowned in the surf at Narrabeen late this afternoon. He was swimming with a party when he got into difficulties and was carried out several hundred yards. Arkins was not missed for some minutes until Donald Lake, a friend, saw the body floating in the water and brought it to the shore. It was taken to the morgue.
