Doreen was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to George Albert Dunsmore and Nellie Lawson Park. She had one older brother, Donald. She married Spencer Donald Cahoon in 1950 in Toronto. They had five children: Frances Louise, Gerald Spencer, Ellen Elizabeth, Barbara Rae, and Martha Hazel. The last four children were stillborn. Don, Doreen and Frances moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1957. Doreen was employed by the Calgary Board of Education for many years; first as a school secretary and later as a high school business manager. Doreen loved to bowl, golf and play bridge. Her grandchildren remember her for baking cookies and having a great collection of dogs. Doreen died in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and is buried there.
