Lyall Seaver Angevine, age 89, died Sunday, September 12, 2010. He was born on a farm in Osco, IL on April 28, 1921. He grew up in Osco and graduated from Geneseo, IL High School. At age 18, he went to California to see the Rose Bowl and while there, attended aircraft tech school, landing a job at Consolidated Aircraft. He was transferred from San Diego to Michigan to help Ford Motor Company learn to build airplanes for the war. He joined the Navy and was assigned to Guam where he served on the USS Mona Lisa. After being discharged from the Navy in 1946, he moved to Birmingham, AL where he began his business career. He had several jobs, eventually selling real estate which would be his life's work. Lyall moved to Atlanta in 1956, to the then rural suburb of Sandy Springs. He was active in the Optimist Club, Masonic Lodge, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Sandy Springs, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He served as President of the Sandy Springs Businessman's Association, and that group served as the volunteer fire department for the community. Always involved in the community, Lyall convinced a developer to donate a lot, where Mountaire Swimming Pool is now located. His business career in Atlanta began at Adair Realty, then to Spratlin, Harrington and Thomas (later Phipps Harrington) and ultimately to Northside Realty. He was the broker for Northside at the North Peachtree Road office for many years. He later worked for First American Title. He was...

He was a member of the Atlanta and DeKalb Board of Realtors, the National Homebuilders Association, and the Atlanta Homebuilders Association, where he served as a Life Director. His role in the Sales and Marketing Executives Club earned him the Spike Award for bringing in record numbers of new members. Lyall was a life-long blood donor, giving more than 19 gallons to the American Red Cross. He was proud to donate, and encouraged others to donate too. He was active in the lives of his four children and fiercely proud of their accomplishments, both as children and adults. His sports passion was so strong that when the Braves moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta in 1966, he bought season tickets and held those tickets until 2008. He was also a Falcons season ticket holder for many years and getting to see his "home teams" play in the World Series and the Super Bowl were a dream come true. His other sports love was golf. As a charter member of the Atlanta Country Club, he played hard and worked hard for the success of the Atlanta Classic Golf Tournament. The 185 yard hole #16 at Atlanta Country Club was the setting for his only hole-in-one. It was a blind shot, and when they didn't find his ball on the green, in the sandtrap or rough, someone in his foursome looked in the cup, and there it was! He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Doris Heintz Angevine, his children, daughter Sally Angevine, daughter Susan Angevine McKessy, and husband Dan, son Harry Angevine, and wife Betty, all of Atlanta, and son Bill Angevine of Panama City Beach, FL. He is also survived by his grandson Dan Councill, wife Katie and great grandchildren, Lizzie and James and his only brother, Martin Angevine of Geneseo, IL.
Additional survivors include stepdaughter, Barbara Benz, husband Jeff, and son Chris of Marietta, stepsons Robert Heintz III and sons Justin and Matthew of Hannibal, MO, and Ronald Heintz, wife Bonita and daughter Brenna of Juneau, Alaska. The funeral service will be held at Sandy Springs Chapel at noon Wednesday, September 15, 2010 with visitation one half hour prior to the service. Burial to follow in Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs. Donations requested to Altus House Healthcare 5411 Northland Dr. Sandy Springs, GA 30342.
