Marjorie Lois Walling Clapper, 90, a native of Gainesville, Texas died December 23, 2014.

She was born to Ralph V. Walling and Artie Kerr Walling and resided in the Pilot Point, Texas area until high school graduation.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years, Donald R. Clapper, and brothers Vernon Walling and Doyle Walling.

Mrs. Clapper attended Draughn Business School in Oklahoma City and worked in the Agriculture Department at the Oklahoma State Capitol. On October 8, 1944 she married Donald in Pilot Point at her parents' home. They lived in Ft. Worth until 1953 when they transferred to the New Orleans area. Louisiana was to be her home 57 years. Here she and Donald raised their three daughters. Mrs. Clapper served as church secretary at Kenner First Baptist Church over 20 years. She enjoyed a wide variety of interests and volunteer work including: church librarian, church choir member, Kenner Theater volunteer, seamstress, gardener, avid cross-stitcher, quilter, New Orleans Saints fan, and more. She dearly loved her Lord, family, and friends. In 2010 she relocated to Asheville, N.C. The family deeply appreciates the volunteers and staff at the WNC Baptist Retirement Home for the tender love and care that she received.

Mrs. Clapper is survived by: daughters Lois Stevens (Michel, dec), Beth Martin (Mickey), and Alice Indest (Michael O.); grandsons Christopher Stevens (Jennifer), Warren Stevens (Bridget), Michael O. Indest, Jr, Matthew Indest, Miles Indest, Glen Martin (Christine), Will Martin (Jennifer); great grandchildren Clayton and Charlotte Stevens, Cassie and Nora Stevens, Madi, Ben, Emma, and Lily Martin, Seth, Luke, Abi, and Elcie Martin; and great-great granddaughter Paxtyn Stevens.

A memorial service for Mrs. Clapper will be held at 11 AM on December 26 at Starnes Cove Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Charlie Sams. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Community Cemetery in Pilot Point, Texas.
