Funeral services for Minnie Lea Wikle Brown, 87, of Batesville, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville with the Rev. Richard Scoggins officiating. Burial followed at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Brown died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Scenic View Nursing Home in Baldwin. Born in Habersham County on Oct. 13, 1916, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur and Lela Smith Wikle. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Brown; a daughter, Peggy Swafford; a son, Kenneth Brown; and brothers, Paul Wikle and Billy Wikle. Mrs. Brown was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Batesville. She was also a retired teacher with the Habersham County School System. Survivors include a daugher, Lela Ann Brown of Clarkesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Barbara Wikle of Clarkesville; a sister, Marie W. Eppinga of Stone Mountain; and a number of nieces and nephews.
