(LaGRANGE, Ga.) Brenton Gay Blair of LaGrange, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at his home.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. EST Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Callaway Baptist Church with the Rev. Max McCord officiating. Burial followed in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.

The son of Luther O. and Icie Mason Blair, Brenton was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Randolph County, Ala. Brenton lived in LaGrange since 1941 and worked for Callaway Mills and Milliken for 28 years. He served as a military police officer in the U.S. Army during World II. He was a member of Callaway Baptist Church.

He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Hilda Blair Railey and Melvin of LaGrange and Elain Blair Barnes of Newnan, Ga.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jimmie Lou Blair of LaGrange; a niece and nephew; and several great-nieces and -nephews, as well as a large extended family. Brenton was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 61 years, Nell East Blair; his parents; and his brothers, Cecil, Junior and Luvern Blair.
