Born to John Oliver Massey (1849-1903) & Addie Rebecca Cansler Massey (1860-1926).

Jesse married three times: 1) Floy May Harrison (1892-1980) in 1912 (see photo top left). One daughter, Marjorie M. Massey (1915-1979). Floy & Jesse divorced and Floy married Howard Clay Boyce.

Jesse Massey married 2) Thelma Keyes (Aug. 26, 1908-April 7, 2001) about 1930. One son, Jerry Byron Massey (1934-?). Jesse & Thelma later divorced and Thelma retained her maiden name.

Jesse married 3) Imogene Bridges (1907-1981) about 1942. See second photo at left. One stillborn child (1943-1943).

From the McComb Enterprise-Journal, July 16, 1957:
Services for Jesse Byron Massey, 63, who was found dead at his residence in Holmesville July 14, were held at 4:30 p.m. July 15 from Holmesville Baptist Church.

He was born at Oakland, Miss., July 20, 1893.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Imogene Bridges Massey, daughter, Miss Marjorie Massey, Hattiesburg; son Jerry Byron Massey, Gulfport; grandson, Raymond Byron Massey; brother, J.C. Massey, Clinton, Miss.; and sisters, Mrs. Robert Girling and Mrs. M.M. Breland, Holmesville.

The Rev. Harold Kitchings, pastor of Holmesville Baptist Church, and the Rev. Robert Girling, Jackson, conducted the services.

Pallbearers were W.S. Lee, Leroy Bracey, Obed McCalip, Jimmy Tucker, Richmond Yawn and Morris Pigott.

Burial was in Frank Kaigler Cemetery with Catchings Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
