Marion L. Kanzelberger, age 85, a Manitowoc resident, died on Thursday, Aug, 26, 2010, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.
Marion was born on April 29, 1925, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Theodore and Ann (Heinzl) Serio. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in1943 and attended the College of Mount Mary In Milwaukee. She worked at the Manitowoc Public Library for many years until her retirement in 1990 and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. She was a lifetime member of the Manitowoc County Historical Society and a member of the Capitol Civic Centre. Marion enjoyed antiquing, traveling, and boasted a one of a kind goblet collection.
Survivors include three children: Dr. Ann Marie (Sam) Synder (sic), Tyler, Texas, Kurt (JaneAnn Megna) Kanzelberger, Aliso Viejo, Calif., Jay (Michelle) Kanzelberger, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Matthew (Cindy) Riggs, Ariz., Peter Riggs, Calif., Samantha Gretz, Nicolette Gretz, Kadain Kanzelberger, all of Manitowoc; two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the father of her children: James C. Kanzelberger, Nashville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents; Theodore and Ann Serio; and one sister: Giovanna Herrmann.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi Church-Grand Avenue, South 14th and Grand, Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment to take place at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum. Relatives may call on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc. A parish prayer service will be led by Deacon Alan Boeldt at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of Mass at 3 p.m.
