Mildred (Bracey) Griffin was born on January 16, 1915 in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of John "Walter" Bracey (1871-1967) and Virginia Vertrease (Hunter) Bracey (1882-1956).
She was married to Alpheus Marston Griffin Jr (1912-1997), the son of Alpheus Marston Griffin Sr (1885-1954) and Icie (Pugh) Griffin (1887-1983).
Mildred spent her entire life loving and serving her church, her family and her friends. She taught school in Nashville in her early years before becoming a mother and a homemaker for over seventy years. A life-long member of Belmont Heights Baptist Church in Nashville, she served in countless volunteer positions, and will be remembered for her smile, her kindness to others.
Still a resident of Nashville, she was 99 years old when she passed away on December 19, 2014 following a brief illness.
Preceded in death by her husband and by her daughter Lynne Evelyn Griffin, she is survived by a married son; and two married granddaughters.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, and burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
