Ms. Derr will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Garden of Rainbow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park after services Saturday.
Sue Anne "Susie" Roberts Derr was born in Goree on Nov. 13, 1928, to Evan and Mable Roberts.
After graduating from Memphis High School in 1946, she went on to attend Texas Technological College in Lubbock and graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education. While there she met and married her college sweetheart and husband of 56 years, E.L. Derr Jr. Susie and E.L. married on July 10, 1950, and moved to Fort Worth. Sue Anne taught school for two years and then she and E.L. began their family. When E.L. started Derr Construction Co. in 1961, Susie not only continued being a full-time mom and wife but also served as secretary and bookkeeper for the new business. She and E.L. enjoyed traveling after he retired. Sue Anne was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Bedford. She loved her Wednesday morning Bible study group and was blessed to have many other cherished friends and a loving family (four children, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren).
Sue Anne was preceded in death by her husband, E.L.; and her brother, E.E. Roberts Jr.
Survivors: Son, Robert "Bob" Derr and wife, Jayme; son, David Derr and wife, Monica; daughter, Elizabeth Peters and husband, Pat; daughter, Emily Middour and husband, Roger; grandchildren, Kristen Fleager and husband, David, Lindsey Palmer and husband, Chris, Travis Derr, Trisha Danielle Ross and husband, Daniel, John Derr and wife, Karen, Drew Peters, Kyle Peters and wife, Claire, Paul Peters, Wesley Peters, Julie Middour Roden and husband, Drew, Tyler Middour, and Kamryn Middour; and great-grandchildren, Joshua and Adeline Fleager, Hensley Peters, Charlotte Ross and Hannah Derr. She will be missed by each and every one and her many friends.
