Eric Gustav Johanson was born in Halmsted, Sweden.

He immigrated to the US in 1914. Just four years later he was serving in the US Army during WWI even though he was not yet a citizen of this country.

Eric worked on the farms in the area of Dannebrog, Nebraska.

In the 1920 Census he was a lodger and farmhand living with the family of his future wife Leada Ester Christine Nellis.

Eric married Leada Ester Christine Nellis who was the daughter of Bert and Anna Nellis.

They had three children Gilbert, Marion, and Vivian. Gilbert died while serving in the military during WWII.

In the 1930 Census Eric, Leada, and their children were living in Omaha. Eric's occupation is given as top trimmer for a motor plant. The Omaha Ford Motor Company was located at 1514 Cumming Street which is probably where Eric was employed. That plant closed in 1932 but during its existence more than 450,000 cars and trucks were produced there.

By 1940 Eric was working in a lumberyard to support his family. The Omaha directory of 1951 has him working as a carpenter.

The location of his obituary is:
JOHANSON, Eric G.(widow Leada C.); 83; 2 Feb 1979, Omaha World Herald, morning edition, page 32, veteran.
