Elena Hortencia Gonzales entered rest on February 22, 2005. She was born on August 12, 1918 in El Paso, Texas to Pascual Hurtiz and Rosa Dorado Hurtiz. She was preceded in death by both her parents, her three brothers and her beloved husband, Moises P. Gonzales. Elena is survived by her daughter, Velma and her husband Ron Willard, her daughter, Roe and her husband Willie Gawlik; her son Homer Gonzales and his wife Nancy; three beloved and precious grandchildren, Christopher Gonzales and his wife Brittany, and Zachary and Carelia Gonzales; numerous in-laws, other relatives and loving friends. Mrs. Gonzales was affectionately called and known as "Mom", "Hortencia", "Tencha", "Momo", "Grandma Elena", and "Mrs. G.". She was known by all who knew her as being a devout and faithful Christian, a gentile, loving, and caring lady with a beautiful smile. Mrs. G. was cared for by her primary care physician and two professional health care organizations, Hill Country Home Care Agency in Boerne and for the past year by VistaCare Hospice in San Antonio. Mrs. G's immediate family will be forever grateful and deeply appreciative of their professional care, the respect they showed, their kindness, the protection of her dignity, the love they expressed and the genuine sharing of their Christian faith that was demonstrated every time they entered into Elena's presence. Visitation will be held at Roy Akers Funeral Chapels on Sunday, February 27, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. The Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2005 at Roy Akers Funeral Chapels. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
