Byron was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Freda. He was also predeceased by his parents Willard and Ethel Carver; siblings Evelyn, Minnie, Dorothy and Anna; nephews Milton and Richard and by a very special niece (Little Sister) Carol Ann. Byron is survived by his brother Willard Jr. and wife Greta of Kennebec; daughter Sandra and son Byron Jr. and wife Darlene of Jonesport; grandchildren Byron III and wife Jeanna of Jonesport, Jennifer and boyfriend Alex of Somerville, MA, Joshua and wife Michelle of Hancock and Carilee of Machias; great grandchildren Jazmin, Kennedi, Logan and Elijah and many nieces and nephews.
Byron and Freda made their home in Jonesport where he worked for 10 years as a lobster fisherman. He then worked for R.H. Rogers for about thirty years until the store was sold, after which he was self-employed as a plumber until September 2014.
Byron will be sadly missed by the communities of Jonesport and Beals where he had family and friends too numerous to mention. He enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and family holiday gatherings. He was an avid fan of both the Red Sox and Patriots and enjoyed spending afternoons at the marina watching the boats and fishermen come and go and catching up with friends doing the same.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Down East Hospice Volunteers, 24 Hospital Lane, Calais, ME 04619 and Byron's family would like to specifically thank the nurses of the Community Health and Counseling Service and the Down East Hospice Volunteers for their help and support during Byron's illness.
