Ethel Irene Snively was born July 3, 1924, in Ogema, Wisconsin,one of nine children in the family of George H. Snively and Ethel Charlotte Lindberg. In 1937 the Snively famiy moved to Oregon. After attending high school in Scio, Ethel Irene married Harold Leroy Ashford in 1941. They had a daughter Charlotte Marie Ashford born in 1949. They moved to Gresham in 1949.
