She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Buford; daughter, Margo Buford Pugh; grandson, Wilbur; parents; six brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Grammer, Dee Smith (Ron), and Teri Grammer (Mike); son-in-law, Jimmy Pugh; and leaves behind to cherish her memory, 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Jewel operated Buford Studio until the death of her husband. She built Buford Plaza on Hwy 82, and later had a flower shop, working until the age of 89.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ken Grammer, Kurt Grammer, Klay Grammer, David Grammer, and Joey Willingham, and great-grandson, Tyler Herd.
Honorary pallbearers are Leroy McAbee, Lee Ann Sexton, Dr. George Miller, members of University Church of Christ, friends an neighbors from Clara Verner Apartments, and the angels from Hospice of West Ala.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of West Ala.
Her daughters cherish the lessons we learned from her example, her love of Jesus Christ, and in teaching us to be strong independent women.
