PLEASANT GROVE--Caratat Bert "John" Olsen, 72, returned to his Heavenly Father July 13, 1995 at his home in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Born August 30, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant to John Taylor and Mary Candace Rowe Olsen. He married Dona D. Draper December 14, 1940 in Manti, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marines. He was a farmer, a coal miner, and a corrections officer at the Utah State Prison, retiring in 1985 after 18 years of service. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He loved archery and the outdoors. He was a friend to everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife of Pleasant Grove; two sons and a daughter, John M. and wife, Kaylean, Vernal; Marjorie O. Lindsey and husband, Wayne, Payson; Bert Michael and wife, Darlene, Salt Lake; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Smith, of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Emma Harrison, of Mt. Pleasant; and a brother, Charles Olsen, of California. Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.

Funeral services will be Monday, 11 a.m. in the Manila 4th Ward, 105 West 1800 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at approximately 4 p.m.
