Vernon Goates
Services Saturday for V. L. Goates
Vernon Lowell Goates, 88, of 2129 East 10th died Thursday afternoon in Medical Center Hospital after a long illness. Services for Goates will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Easterling Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Odessa Cemetery.
He was born September 10, 1909 in Brownwood, and moved to Odessa in 1948. He attended schools in Brownwood graduating from Brownwood High School in 1929. He was the owner of Vernon's Furniture Store from 1948 to 1973 and was owner of Vernon Goates Real Estate Company at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Lupe, of the home; two brothers, David Goates of Brownwood and W. B. Goates of Odessa, and two sisters, Mrs. P. R. Wood of Brownwood and Alice Stanley, also of Brownwood. The family asks that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society.
