Donald Eugene Rumley, 82, of Browns Summit passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Clapp's Nursing Center after six months of declining health. He was born in Rockingham County to the late Richard Manley and Peggy Price Rumley and was married to Margaret Ann Barts Rumley, who survives. Mr. Rumley was a retired tobacco farmer. Donald was a faithful member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church for over 50 years where he had served on the Board of Trustees and was a member of the Couples for Christ Sunday School Class.

Survivors other than his wife, Margaret Ann Rumley include his daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Rumley Honeycutt, Kathy and Jerry Keck, Robin and Craig Woods; stepchildren, Bonnie and Jeff Jones, Ken and Linda Minor; grandchildren and spouses, Shawn and Meagan Vaughn, Heather and Bryan Foxx, Kristopher Honeycutt, Brooks Honeycutt; step grandchildren and spouses, Joshua Moore, Ashley and Nick Hinton; great grandchildren, Jalen Foxx, Logan Foxx, Kensley Foxx, Madison Vaughn, Riley Foxx; step great grandson, Wyatt Hinton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby "Bob" and Vickie Rumley, Richard "Bill" and Sandra Rumley.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years who died August 2007, Margie Brown Rumley, parents, sister, Betty R. Maness and a brother, Jack Rumley.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Apple's Chapel Christian Church by Rev. C. Allen Myers III, Rev. Dave Johnson and Rev. Mike Campbell with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.

The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to all the nurses, caregivers and staff with Dr. James M. Love at Guilford Neurological Associates, Dr. Neville Gates at Eagle Physicians and Clapp's Nursing Center for all their loving care that was shown to Donald.
