She was born June 20, 1931, to Fred R. and Birdie Forrest Reames in El Dorado.
She was the co-owner of Barnette and Sons, Inc. and was a homemaker. Joanne was a member of College Avenue Church of Christ, and a former member of Union Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, J.T. Barnette; three sisters, Marguerite Jackson, Mary Louise Reames, and Shirley Tilley; three brothers, Forrest Eugene Reames, Fred Oneal Reames, and Rudolf Elliott Reames; and grandson, Ryan Oneal Barnette.
Survivors include her three sons, Rodney Oneal Barnette (Susan) of El Dorado, Steven Glenn Barnette (Johna) of Dubach, La., and James Scott Barnette (Kaye) of Hot Springs Village; two sisters, Patsy Reames Chandler of El Dorado, and Carol Reames Morrison (Garland) of Hot Springs Village; four grandchildren, Shane Barnette, Trisha Brown, Kahla Hollis, and Brandon Barnette; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Youngs Chapel with Jack Webb, the Rev. Steve Pelz and the Rev. Garland Morrison officiating, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Youngs Funeral Directors.
