Mrs. Rozena Fechser Madsen, 77, widow of Andrew O. Madsen, died at her residence here of causes incident to age. She had suffered a brief illness.
Mrs. Madsen was born Aug 6, 1873, in Mt. Pleasant, Sanpete county, a daughter of John and Ida C.Fechser, early pioneer members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was educated in Mt. Pleasant schools. She was married to Mr. Madsen March 17, 1897, in the Manti LDS Temple. He died in 1928, and in 1940 she moved to Sandy, where she resided until her death. Active in LDS circles, she was a relief Society teacher for many years, a member of several choirs and singing groups. She was past historian of Sandburr camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneer Historical Assn.
Survivors include six sons and daughters; Mrs. Royal Balle, Payson, Utah county; Evan A. Madsen and Mrs. Kenneth Brady, Sandy; Mrs. Howard Riley, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Orlen Spencer, Lehi, and Howard F. Madsen, Murray; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers; J. Fred Fechser, Provo; James C. Fechser, Moroni, Hyrum Fechser, Glendale, Cal.; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hansen, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Ella Jensen, Mt. Pleasant. Also surviving is a nephew reared by Mrs. Madsen, Theodore A. Christensen, Denver.
