Private First Class Devlin served with the
422nd Base Unit, Combat Crew Training
Squadron at Tonopah Army Airfield, Nevada.

He was killed when engine fires caused a
crash of B-24D Liberator #42-41190, sixteen
miles northwest of the airfield.

Five other Army aviators were killed:

2nd Lt. Wayne C Hurst, pilot
2nd Lt. Edward M Piwowarski
2nd Lt. Myron E Smith
2nd Lt. Lloyd E Warner
PFC Charles W Lantz

Son of Frank Devlin, age 18.
Enlisted April 17, 1944.
