Services for Abner Ross Goates, Route 2, Bonham, who died Satruday night, April 26, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, were held at 10 a.m.at Wise Funeral Chapel, conducted by Rev. Laddie Hixon of the Seventh and Main Baptist Church. Interment was in the Fannin Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Goates was born in Lockhart on November 26, 1915, the son of the late Henry Arthur and Berthe Verdie McGlothlin Goates. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps as a Corporal. He was retired from the Corpus Christi Department, with 29 years of service. He was also a member of the V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Earl Goates of Bonham; one step-son, Larry Hibbetts of Bonham; two daughters, Miss Debbie Goates of Bonham; three brothers, Robert Goates, and Charley Goates of Corpus Christi, Edward of Luling; two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Adcock of Seguin, and Mrs. Annie Miller of Gonzales four grandchildren and four step-grandhildren and four step-grandchildren.

He was a Corporal in the US Marines during World War II.

Pallbearers were VFW members.
