Funeral Services for Ardis (Ardy) H. Angell, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 15, 2014, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, rural Austin, Minnesota. The Reverend Lindsay Stolen will officiate.Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. There will be no reviewal at the church. Interment will be at 9:45 A.M. on Monday at the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Ardis died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by her family. She was 83 years old. She was born on May 20, 1931 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the daughter of Arnold J. and Nomie A. (Thompson) Jensen. She was united in marriage to William F. Angell on December 14, 1949, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Following their marriage they lived and farmed in the Blooming Prairie area. They later retired and moved to Albert Lea. In early years Ardis had been very active in PTA, the Extension Club and as a 4-H leader. She was an active member of the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church where she had taught Vacation Bible School and was active in WELCA and Mission Circle. Ardis enjoyed doing handiwork, especially hardanger and crocheting, and had a great interest in genealogy. In later years she took up golf and enjoyed 28 years of wintering in Mesa, AZ. Bill and Ardis also enjoyed traveling, visiting England, Alaska and Hawaii. Ardis is survived by her husband, William, of Albert Lea, her children: Susan (Richard) Rasmussen of West Des Moines, IA, Diane (David) Schewe of Hayward, MN, John (Anita) Angell of Blooming Prairie, MN, Karen Angell of Eden Prairie, MN; Grandchildren: Justin (Mary) Rasmussen, Shawn Rasmussen, Dawn (Chad) Carlson, Scott Schewe, Sara (David) Kalis, Jennifer (Brian) Green, and Craig (Verlinda) Angell,; 9 great grandchildren: William Rasmussen, Amber, Brandon, Jacob and Ruth Carlson, Gavin Schewe, David Kalis, Alexandra and Lukas Green; sister Bonnie (Milan) Behr of Elysian, MN, brother Robert (Marlys) Jensen of Waseca, MN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Phyllis Jensen, Barbara and Thomas O'Conner, Elaine and Robert Schmeling and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Nomie Jensen, stepmother Alvina Jensen; brother Carroll Jensen, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Betty and Lloyd Ellingson, and Ralph Angell. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the tender loving care Ardis received from ThorneCrest Retirement Community and the staff at St. Mary's Hospital. Memorials are suggested to Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association. Ardis was a much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed.
