He attended Argentine High School, graduating in 1938.
He was a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation tribe.
In his youth, he enjoyed Golden Gloves boxing and baseball. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, RVing and crossword puzzles.
He was a WWII veteran and served in France, Germany and Austria. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service.
Hubert married Ruth Taylor April 7, 1956, recently celebrating fifty years together.
He is survived by his wife; his youngest brother, Fred Spalding of Topeka, KS; one son, Mark Spalding (Janet), and five daughters, Betty Rentschler, Sandra Sutton (Kenny), Janice Pound (Mike), Barbara Jordan (John), Michelle Klaproth (Mark), all of the Kansas City area. He has 19 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was dearly loved and we will miss his quiet unassuming ways, especially his dry sense of humor through tough times.
