Service for Gordon Schlender, 69, will be at 1 p.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Fairfield. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane-area resident, Mr. Schlender died Sunday. He was born in Spokane.

He served in the Army for a few years.

Mr. Schlender operated a tavern in Oakesdale, Wash., for a few years before returning to Spokane. He also worked as a custodian for 10 years for The Spokesman-Review.

Mr. Schlender was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Spokane Bowling Association and the MacIntosh Grange.

Survivors include a sister, Mildred Fricke of Rockford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Spokane School Bowling League or the Diabetes Foundation.
