Mrs. Escott, wife of Mr. James V. Escott and sister of Mr. W. N. Haldeman, died at the family residence in this city last evening. The deceased was best known for her work in the alleviation of the wants of the poor and destitute. While her presence will be missed at the family fireside, her memory will be ever cherished by all who knew her.

MRS. ESCOTT'S FUNERAL
The following named gentlemen will act as pall-bearers at the funeral of the late Mrs. James V. Escott this morning: Messrs. Patrick Joyes, Thomas P. Smith, N. D. Hunter, John W. Hopkins, John P. Morton, J. B. McFerran, R. H. Collins, and Whiteman Wood. Honorary: Drs. D. W. Yandell and David Morton. Rev. Dr. Witherspoon of the First Presbyterian Church will deliver the funeral discourse.
