Robert C. Goldsborough Sr. &
Mary Ann (Winrow) Goldsborough
It has been said that Samuel had two "spouses"--
a wife named Matilda "Tillie" Seagraves &
a "girlfriend" named Matilda Sidney
His son Ira M. Goldsborough, Sr. is said to be the only child from his wife, Tillie, and all the rest of his children were from his "girlfriend" Matilda. Ira went by the Goldsborough spelling while the other children used the shortened version of Goldsboro, but there were variations among the descendants in each part of the family.
