Christine M. Sheriff, 94, formerly of Port Carbon, died Monday at Rest Haven nursing home, Schuylkill Haven.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, Jan. 20, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Sterner and Emma Burnett Sterner.
She worked at Alpha Mills, Schuylkill Haven.
She was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon. She was a volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital for physical therapy. She was also a member of Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens and Port Carbon Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Sheriff, in 1998; two brothers, John Sterner and Robert Sterner.
She is survived by sons, Robert L. Sheriff, Enola, and Richard T. Sheriff, Newberry Springs, Calif.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchilden; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, with the Rev. David Karns officiating. Interment was held at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Friends were invited to call from at James H. Evans Funeral Home Inc., 347 S. Second St., Saint Clair.
