Hermeda A. “Sam” Kahler, 90, of Macomb, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Tecumseh. Born March 12, 1924, in Haileyville, she was the daughter of parents Henry J. and Frances (Wilberforce) Arnold. She was raised in Haileyville and graduated from Haileyville High School. She married Paul D. Kahler on March 12, 1924, in Arkansas. She was a lifelong resident of Haileyville and lived the last five years in Macomb. She and her husband traveled extensively through the United States with the Wagon Wheel Travel Trailer Club, of which they served as directors. They were also members of National Hikers and Campers Association. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of McAlester. Survivors include one son, Donald Jennings, of Macomb; one brother, Carl Allen, Norfolk, Virginia; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Kahler, and two brothers, Charles and Frankie Arnold. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Elmwood Cemetery Pavilion with J.P. Hackler officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
