Walter, son of Richard and Olga Albrecht was born at home on August 31, 1919, in Cottonwood County, MN. He married Frances Nielsen on July 2, 1944, in Dell Rapids, SD. They met while he was serving in the Army during World War II in Sioux Falls, SD. They were farmers near Colman, SD, Dell Rapids, SD, and Jeffers, MN. They were blessed with five daughters. Frances died on November 28, 1995.
He remarried Bethel Sykora on January 1, 1997, who died on March 28, 2011.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, MN, and Odegaard-Quade American Legion Post #401, Jeffers, MN.

He is survived by his five daughters, Jeanne (James) Karnegis, Elkhorn, NE; Linda (Vincent) Carrigan, White Bear Lake, MN; Marian (Robert) Schoper, Jeffers, MN; Donna (Larry) Gravley, Windom, MN; Lisa (Randall) Witt, Hutchinson, MN; and one stepchild, Curt (Marcy) Sykora, Rochester, MN. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Doris (Frank) Kassel, Vermillion, MN; and Petra Albrecht, Windom, MN.
He was preceded in death by his spouses, parents, three sisters, one brother, and one great-grandchild.
