Pearl Marie Brees, age 85, of Derby, retired Licensed Practical Nurse, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014. Memorial graveside services will be held 2 PM Friday, December 12th, at Greenwood Cemetery, 6231 W. 47th St. So. She loved the Lord and all children, especially her grandchildren. Her passion was working in children’s ministries with Baptist Bible Fellowship, Church Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Child Evangelism Fellowship. Pearl is preceded in death by her husband, V.L. “Bud” Brees; parents, William & Sarah O’Neal; brothers, Gerald, Leonard, Virgil and Tommy; sisters, Gertie, Zella, Alice, Aggie, Helen and Barbara. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Terry Stroud (Polly), of Lynwood, WA, Kathy Wilhelm (Ric), of Valley Center, Jeff Stroud, of Wichita, Julia Meek (Jim), of Derby, and Denise Fockler (Dennis), of Wichita; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 and Child Evangelism Fellowship of Kansas, 6537 NE 75th St., El Dorado, KS 67042.
