Edna was united in marriage to Gideon Goehring on Dec. 28, 1962 in Underwood Baptist Church in Underwood, ND. The lived on Gideon's farm NW of Long Lake, SD. Edna adapted quickly to being a farm wife and was a dedicated mother to her two step-children. She milked cows, planted a large garden, canning the yield from it, raised chickens, and hosted beef, chicken and hog butchering "parties". She made delicious frosted honey cookies with her granddaughters. Edna, a beautiful Christian woman was a member of Ashley Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Was a member of the Mary-Martha Women's Missionary Circle, serving as treasurer and later the Tabitha Fellowship. Edna used her alto voice to sing in the mixed choir as well as in mixed quartet with Gideon, James and Joy. Edna and Gideon moved into Ashley in October of 1990. She faithfully wrote in her diary each evening. Edna was an accommodating hostess and had the gift of hospitality.
She moved into the Ashley Medical Center
apartments in July of 2011 then joined Gideon as a resident of the Ashley Nursing Home in November of 2012.
Edna is survived by her step-children James (Joy) Goehring of rural Long Lake, SD; and step-daughter Geraldine (Larry) Weisser of Grand Forks, ND; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Brother Reuben (Ruth) Grueneich of Branson, MO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband (10-2-2013), three brothers, Arthur, Edwin and Wilbert as an infant. And five sisters; Alma, Leora, Hulda, Elsie and Esther.
