She was born October 18, 1931 in Stuart, IA to Ivan and Bethene C. (Seward) Lyddon. She married Jay McLouth on June 10, 1950 in Canton. He survives.
Also surviving are three children, Beth E. Moreland of Washington, Daniel J. McLouth of Mapleton, and Michele “Shelly” McLouth of Canton; one brother, Ivan (Marian) Lyddon of W. Des Moines, IA; one brother-in-law, John Smeltzer of Milford, IA; two grandchildren, Jacob (Jennifer) McLouth and Sarah (Ryan) Green; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Luke; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Stella M. (Homerin) Lyddon, by whom she was raised; and one sister, Patricia A. Smeltzer.
Jane was very active throughout her high school days; participating in basketball, choir, bell choir, and band before graduating from Stuart High School in 1949.
She was a homemaker, which afforded her the opportunity to raise her children and be active in the Monterey United Methodist Church. She held many positions within the Church and the United Methodist Women. She was well known for the creative and artistic bulletin boards which she maintained at the Church.
Jane loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in her garden, mowing the yard, and tending to her strawberries. She was a gifted seamstress and baker, and also enjoyed painting. She was formerly active in the Canton PTA and the PEO.
Jane was a very selfless and giving person and would do anything for anyone. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed the time that she spent with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the Monterey United Methodist Church or to the Fulton County Humane Society.
