He married Penny Norred on March 10, 1979, and they were blessed with two children, Luke and Ashley. Glen always said they were the greatest blessing in his life.
At a young age Glen showed a talent with horses. That became his passion and he excelled as a jockey and later a well known respected and successful trainer. He never met a stranger and his many friends are a testament to that.
He is preceded in death by his parents Barbara Snider Atkison and Dale Atkison.
He is survived by his son Luke Atkison and wife Kristy, daughter Ashley Melton and husband Casey. Three precious grandsons he adored, Wyatt and Gage Atkison, Callan Melton, fiancée Wanda Ratliff Lastly, whom was his angel here on earth. Her love and constant care for Glen was truly angelic. He is also survived by sisters Sandy Wright and husband Larry, Vicki Wood, Tammie Atkison, step-mother Mary Atkison, step brother Richard Riggs, step sister Angela Eckert. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and last but not least his border collie Cisco.
Graveside services were Tuesday Dec. 9, 2014 at 2:00 at Bluffton Cemetery with Martin Riley officiating.
