Funeral service for John C. Colvin age 90 of Ruston will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, LA. Officiating the services will be Dr. Michael Hawley. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Mr. Colvin was born April 9, 1924 and passed away December 5, 2014 following a brief illness.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Valentine Colvin.

Mr. Colvin served in the United States Army and was a disabled Veteran of WWII. He was post Commander of VFW and retired from the City of Ruston, and also was a retired bus driver; he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

He is survived by sons: Rodney Kimbell Colvin of Simsboro and Gary Wayne Colvin of Austin, Texas; stepdaughter: Bonnie Lynn Chaudoir of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Lucille Sims of Ruston and Johnnie Colvin of Ruston; daughters-in-law: Penny Colvin of Simsboro and Gloria Colvin of Austin, Texas; grandson: Dusty Colvin; granddaughters: Katie Bennett; and Dionne Hoffmeister; grandson Michael Chaudoir; and 7 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Theodos, Ray Caraway, Mike Martin, Hank Bennett, Dusty Colvin, Gary Rainey, Donald Willett, and Clint Durrett. Honorary pallbearer will be Dude Durrett.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, December 8, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
