OBITUARY
Joshua Lee was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, April 3, 1858 and died by the accidental escape of gas in his room in Burlington, Iowa on October 9, 1911. He was married to Miss Sussenth (Cerentha) Evelyn Long on November 2, 1876. To them were born eleven children, six sons and five daughters, as follows: Mrs. Ella Barton, Henry County, Iowa; Melvin, Morning Sun, Iowa; Orrin, Yarmouth, Iowa; Charlie, New London, Iowa; Mrs. Frances Holaday, Reuben, Idaho; Mrs. Mae Hudson, Roscoe, Iowa; and Chester, Linnie, Clifford, Bernice and Alpha, all living in Henry County, Iowa.
There are also living two sisters, Mrs. Anna Layton, Jefferson County, Iowa and Miss Martha Harter, Hamilton, Illinois.
While no one was permitted to be present at his untimely death they were all present at the funeral.
Obsequies from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ella Barton.
Mr. Lee was long a resident of Henry County, Iowa, was honored and respected by a large circle of friends. The funeral service was held at Union church, a large audience being present, and he was buried in the Lambirth cemetery.
