Fay L. Jeffery was born near Clinton, Missouri, in Fields Creek Township on March 24, 1924. She was the oldest child of Fred Gehart Huenefeldt and Ruthie Belle Seaton Huenefeldt. She attended grade school at Fields Creek School. After graduation from high school, Fay worked as a salesperson at the Singer Sewing store in Clinton. Later she moved to Kansas City where she attended The Kansas City Business College. After completing her courses there, she joined the College as their secretary. Later she continued her business career by working at Bendix (now Honeywell group).

Fay left the business world in 1969 when she married Herbert H. Jeffery of Clinton. She returned to the rural life and embraced being a farm wife with enthusiasm. She planted a large garden and preserved the produce. As a flower lover she continued and added to the multitude of flowers already on the farmstead. She fed everything from people, livestock, her herd of cates and wild birds. Many a child has learned about wild birds sitting at her kitchen table.

Fay and Herb were active members of the Golden Valley Saddle Club. They attended horse shows over a wide area of Missouri helping where needed.

Fay was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church. She was active in Sunday school and in the F and F group as long as she was able. Fay cared for her parents as they aged, and also cared for Herb as he became disabled in later years. Fay was known for helping out and taking care of people. She was always there to lend a hand.

You could count on Fay for fresh baked cookies, iced tea in quart jars, interesting hats, and gumboots. If you moved into the neighborhood, she came driving up in her tan pickup with a fresh baked treat, and orders to call her Grandma Fay. She was ready to hear your life story and find out how she could help you. Fay provided help to many groups educating young people. 4-H, FFA, and Youth Outdoor Programs all benefited from her contributions.

Fay passed into another life on December 2, 2014 at Clinton Healthcare and Rehab. She celebrated her 90th birthday in March with a card shower and lots of flowers, fun and well wishes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Paul as an infant and Fredrick William (Bill) Huenefeldt.

Her brother, David S. Huenefeldt, and wife Alice of Clinton survive her. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Genieve Huenefeldt, Fay's grandsons, James and wife, Amanda, Samuel and wife, Elizabeth and three great grandchildren; Miles, Brice and Greta. Genieve and Bill’s sons, Paul and Tom Huenefeldt, and their wives, Ana and Trish also survive. Fay's Texas family also survives, Kevin and Jona Meek, Tommy Meek, Shantell and Wes Campbell and son, Kace. Many other relatives and friends will always remember her caring and giving spirit.
