Agatha Baumert was born February 17, 1924, in Grandview, Iowa, to Joseph and Anna (Wittrock) Lechtenberg. The family moved to Petersburg, Nebraska, while Agatha was still young. She graduated from St. John the Baptist Catholic High School in Petersburg and went on to college at Creighton. Agatha earned her teaching certificate and taught in Dodge, Nebraska. It is here that she met Earl Baumert while taking tickets at a school game. A romance began and on June 21, 1949, Agatha was united in marriage to Earl at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dodge.
