MADISON BOWYER ANSWERS CALL

The hand of death baffled by months by the most expert medical skill claimed as a victim one of Allen county's oldest pioneers at 6:30 o'clock, Friday morning, when Madison L. Bowyer, 86 years if age, and a resident of Allen county since 1831 succumbed to the inevitable and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Leech. General debility and a complication of diseases superinduced by his advanced age were responsible for his death.

Mr. Bowyer was one of Allen county's wealthy farmers who retired several years ago at the death of his wife to make his home with his daughter in this city. He was born in Beford county, Virginia, January 12, 1826 and moved to this county with his parents five years later. Early in life he selected life as a farmer as a means of livelihood and upon retirement several years ago was the owner of a number of farms scattered over the county. A few years ago he moved to the farm where the Gardendale addition is now located and disposed of the property to a realty company a few months ago.

The deceased is survived by seven children including Mrs. James Leech, of Lima; Mrs. Lou Brown, also of this city; Mrs. AW Parmely of Panesville; Mrs. AW Busche, of Cleveland; Isaac Bowyer, of Kalida, and John E. and Charles Bowyer, of Elida. His wife died in September 1910.

Funeral services will be conducted from the home, 325 north Washington street, Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock with the Rev. M. B. Fuller of the Trinity Methodist church, of which the deceased was a member, officiating. A short service will be held at the Elida Methodist church and the body taken to Allentown for interment.
